MALACATE STOOL

This furniture and lighting project is inspired by the importance of pre-Hispanic tools for Mesoamerican cultures, specifically the malacate, a tool used to spin fiber. From this inspiration, a series of benches and floor lamps were created. These pieces were presented at the INÉDITO 2022 design award, organized by DESIGN WEEK MÉXICO. With a focus on the historical context and symbolic value of these ancestral tools, two outstanding pieces were developed: a bench that highlights their use and functionality, and a lamp that symbolizes their deep cultural significance.
